no its not normal. you should take it to a vet. it is probably having some sort of anxiety problems. from being seperated from another parrot.

I want an African Grey but I am only 14 and in school. If I made sure that whenever I was home I payed attention to it, would it be okay or resort to feather picking? Please- advice or other parrots that are medium sized, moderately quite. thnx

If it’s your first bird, why don’t you start with something less demanding? I strongly suggest a cockatiel or a budgie as a first bird, since they will help you get accustomed to what owning a bird is going to be like.
